a linthead
literary
movement, a sort
of mill hill
renaissance.
There's a grass
roots effort
underway to save
the history and
heritage of
Southern cotton
mill culture. "Equestrian purists have 'The Horse and Hound.' Domestic divas have 'Martha Stewart Living.' Now legions of mill people have a magazine of their own ... The Bobbin & Shuttle."
Jason Cato,
The Herald |
When copies
of The Bobbin
and Shuttle
reached
thousands of the
South's cotton
mill people
earlier this
year, its debut
issue evoked a
flood of
memories. Although every mill hill has its own unique history, reading the magazine's stories couldn't help but bring back the laughter, the tears and the pride that dwells in the hearts of the Cotton Mill South. Issue #2 continues the journey back in time - to cog wheel wagons, Tar Heel elopements over the line to York, SC as well as chronicling the valiant efforts underway to preserve the remnants of this culture. The Bobbin & Shuttle is must reading for anyone interested in our nation's history. It is a keepsake for all who feel that contributions by these fine people should be celebrated and remembered.
