Cooleemee Preservation Efforts

Textile Heritage Center at Cooleemee
Built at the height of the South's Mill building era, Cooleemee's mill closed in 1969 but it has retained over three hundred-thirty of its original mill houses as well as its old cotton mill.
With its Mill Village Museum, RiverPark and soon-to-be completed Mill Family Life Museum, Cooleemee is poised to create a Textile Heritage Historic Site which will attract visitors from the region, the nation and abroad. The Cooleemee History Loom is published by the Cooleemee Historical Association. We are located in Davie County about 13 miles northwest of Salisbury, NC on the South Yadkin River.
